with children

Jillian's unique background as a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist (CPMT) and training in Adaptive Watsu® and International Aquatic Therapy Techniques, equips her with vital knowledge of indications, contraindications, and considerations to massage and work with children in a special healthcare needs setting.

Sessions both in the warm-water pool and on land are child-centered, emphasizing safety, empowerment, joy and play to meet your child directly where he/or she is at.

Being in the water highlights a sense of freedom, fun, and playfulness for many children, so it's an obvious fit for therapeutic work and optimal results.

Her additional training as a music therapist and ropes course facilitator prime Jillian with not only musicality, spontaneity, and patience, but also a diverse range of activities and ideas with which to connect with your child, ultimately inspiring him/her to connect, have fun, and reach his/her goals. Scheduling days, times, and locations are flexible to accommodate your family's needs.

Whenever possible, work is performed in pools treated with alternatives to chlorine so that those with sensitivities will have a pleasurable and positive experience.  Also, most pools are wheelchair accessible.

Jillian proudly volunteers every week with the Special Needs Aquatics Program (SNAP Kids) in Berkeley and Pediatric Palliative Aquatics Program at George Mark House in San Leandro.

Jillian is one of the most passionate people that I have had the privilege watching connect with my daughter and other children. Her energy, openness and kind heart allow kids to feel free to be themselves, create, think and blossom. The same qualities translate into honest and heartfelt communication with parents. Jillian is someone that creates an atmosphere where lifelong memories are made. She will always be a part of our hearts and family.

with Adults

Jillian believes strongly in the power of the water to support adults with special healthcare needs, and for this reason primarily recommends aquatic bodywork. The warm water alone offers many individuals relief from pain, inflammation, and chronic symptoms, as well as an invaluable sense of freedom and effortlessness. Massaging, stretching, and working the body in a 3D environment provides additional benefit, calming the sympathetic nervous system and dissolving patterns of "fight or flight" response. It's amazing what's possible when the body has a true opportunity to relax and let go.

Whenever possible, work is performed in pools treated with alternatives to chlorine so that those with sensitivities will have a pleasurable and positive experience.  Also, most pools are wheelchair accessible.

I have chronic Lyme disease and Watsu has helped both my mind and body forget my pain and disabilities. Watsu is the ultimate in relaxation and the hour you spend is an utterly precious one. Jillian heightens her craft to an artistic level with her care and attention to you in the water. I highly recommend you treat yourself to a session for an exquisite and unique experience.

I’ve had fibromyalgia for 16 years and have tried many modalities for self care. Weekly Watsu treatments have eased both my body and mind, supporting my aching muscles like none other before it. Massage in the warm water gives me a sense of complete relaxation and tranquility, aiding in the management of my symptoms for a truly transcendent experience.”

— Laura Whitsett, affected by Fibromyalgia
I have experienced many forms of bodywork over the years as a result of a rheumatoid disease of my spine. I have found Watsu to be healing for both my body and mind. The warmth of the water combined with Jillian’s nurturing touch is the next best thing to being in the womb! The pain I feel on a massage table disappears in the weightlessness of floating in the water. Jillian is by far the most gifted Watsu practitioner I have ever experienced.
